#LookPost Pink & Plaid

pink oversized blazer inside my closet

One of my wardrobe staples, for both winter and summer, is my pink oversized blazer. It is the perfect piece to brighten up your winter wardrobe and the perfect cover up for chilly summer evenings. Here I have used it to brighten up my all black winter look. I have paired it with a plaid shirt to add some print, and accessorized with a silver chain bag.

#LookPost Casual with Converse

converse sneakers street style

For a day off from university, I keep my style very casual with my Converse sneakers and a loose fitting breton. I added my peplum shorts and sunglasses for a 'touch of chic' to the outfit.

#LookPost Black & Gold

oasis leopard print coat mixing prints clashing prints monochrome geometric pattern trousers h&m ankle boots fashion blog

I am a little obsessed with chunky gold jewellery at the moment. And pairing it with anything black just makes it stand out even more. As well as adding chunky gold jewellery to this look, I also paired two prints which usually clash: leopard print and geometric monochrome print. They work well together as both prints have some black in them, and the accessories tie them together. I wore a cropped tee and cuffed up my trousers to expose some skin; this breaks up the print so to not overwhelm me.

#WearingTheTrends Knee High Socks

This trend has been around for a while. Alexander Wang and Proenza Schouler made it cool in Fall 2010, and Missoni and Loewe brought it back in 2013. It adds a kind of school/ odd/ naughty element to an outfit; it makes you look sexy, but silly at the same time. Kind of love that!

I paired my knee-highs with my coral origami skort, a simple black cropped top and fluffy cardigan. Finally I threw over my parka for a casual relaxed element. I love the combination of coral and black. Against the black, the coral colour pops out. It's definitely a spring and summer colour, but I love to incorporate it into my winter wardrobe to add some difference to the normal muted tones.

On a side not, I have become a little obsessed with taking photos in changing rooms. I love the odd effect that the mirrored image has; it adds some creativity and a little confusion to the picture. Also, I think a changing room is the perfect location as my blog is all about clothing, outfits, trends and fashion. Basically everything that happens inside a changing room.

Gold is the perfect complimentary colour for coral. So I chose my black and gold watch, and a chunky gold chain bracelet to accessorize my look.

#TodayImWearing Whitewashed Fur

The other day when I explored Brick Lane and perused through all the wonderful vintage pieces, I found an amazing whitewashed grey faux fur coat. A fur (faux or real) coat is the absolute staple for your winter wardrobe in London, or Europe. It can get very icy and gloomy in this city, and what more of a perfect way to keep out the cold than to dress as a bear!

I paired my beautiful vintage faux fur coat with a black leather origami skort, tights and knee high socks, and cut-out buckled shoes. To show off my new coat's amazing high collar, I tied my hair back with a gold hair cuff. (My new favourite accessory!)

I love both faux fur and real fur, but since buying this faux fur coat, I learned that faux fur is machine washable! I did not even realise that. But since I bought my coat, I have washed it in the machine and it came out looking sparkling and new (and not in tatters as I imagined it would!). So although real fur looks and feels amazing, faux fur is just so much less maintenance.

#TodayImWearing Men's Jeans and Monks

Today we took a stroll down Brick Lane in London, where you can find the most amazing vintage pieces and market finds! Not only are the quaint vintage stores interesting and different, but the walls along the street are super interesting; decorated with graffiti, doodles and arty masterpieces. I could not get enough of the amazing street art! It was such an interesting juxtaposition of graffiti on historic brick walls.

So my choice of  outfit tended towards androgynous with my men's jeans and buckled monks. I added some interest with my long leopard coat.

#TodayImWearing Apricot Floral

The sun came out today in London (which can be very rare during the Winter!), so I decided to wear something fun and colourful, yet warm. I paired my apricot skort with a floral top, and contrasted my girly outfit with a masculine tweed blazer.

This apricot skort is just great; it can be transferred from day to night super easily. And I love its stiff structure and origami shape; perfect for pairing with floaty feminine fabrics.

And of course, I took these photographs in the changing room. A big part of my day in London is spent in changing rooms.

#Outfit Cool, Casual & Chic

I have been taking full advantage of the London shopping scene, social scene and food scene! I absolutely love it here and don't know if I will ever leave. Last night we went to a Mexican restaurant, Wahaca, in the Soho district in London. It was absolutely great! With a tequila bar downstairs in the basement and a street food style restaurant upstairs, what more could you want?

#TodayImWearing Pretty in Pink

Today I went on a little outing to Kirstenbosch Gardens in Cape Town to take advantage of the great summer weather. I just could not get enough of all the pretty pink shades of the flowers; and they matched my outfit so perfectly.  For my look, I paired a pale pink pleated tank top with denim cut-offs and valentino-inspired flats. I added some edge with a studded black belt and chain bag.

My apricot manicure, accessorised with a Lovisa midi ring, finished off my summery look

Just so blooming beautiful, don't you think?

#TodayImWearing Vintage

Today I decided to wear a very vintage outfit. I paired my vintage tweed blazer with a vintage white blouse, black bow tie and a vintage leather satchel bag. To add a more modern element, I paired my vintage outfit with black skinny jeans with zipper details and leopard print booties.

#TodayImWearing Business Style

Last week I received some very exciting news. My clothing label, Jemimah, had been chosen to feature in Babette clothing store. Babette sells vintage and vintage-inspired clothing, leather boots and bags, and vintage jewellery and hats. I absolutely LOVE Babette, and cannot believe I get to sell my label in this store.

And so, for my FIRST business meeting, I decided to wear black, white and red. Nothing says "serious" and "business", more than this colour palette. And since this was a fashion business meeting, I had to make sure my outfit depicted my style, my label's style and Babette's style. So I married my classic, chic style and my label's monochromatic palette with Babette's vintage style. I paired my white blouse and chic cropped tuxedo blazer with my vintage high-waisted denim shorts. I finished off my look with red booties and a vintage leather satchel bag.

(It was super windy, so the "fly aways" were a bit ridiculous!)

White blouse - Country Road
Tuxedo jacket - Studio W at Woolworths
Black chain necklace - Cotton On
Black belt - Woolworths
Denim shorts - Vintage
Red booties - Woolworths

After my meeting, signing my very first contract and seeing my clothes hanging on the rail in Babette, we celebrated at the local restaurant with a few drinks.

A while ago, I blogged about Babette, telling my readers that this store is a definite must see and must shop! Definitely karma! See that blog post here.

#GetTheLook Boy Meets Girl

The outfit I chose today for doing some fabric shopping for my new line, is very "boy meets girl". It mixes masculine elements with some feminine flirty pieces. I paired my boyfriend jeans with a white lace top and a cropped nautical blazer. To finish off this very androgynous look, I put on my black leather brogues.

Lace top - Forever New
Nautical jacket - Foschini
Boyfriend jeans - Cotton On
Black belt - Woolworths
Had bag - River Island
Black brogues - Bull Boxer at Zoom

To get this "boy meets girl" look, here is an outfit I put together that is affordable yet right on trend! The very boyish jeans and blazer are offset by the pale pink blouse and bow bag. To add some edge to this outfit, wear some dark red lipstick.

#TodayImWearing Cropped Denim Vest

Today I paired my striped tulip skirt and cropped khaki tank with a cropped denim vest. Not only do I love to mix prints in one outfit, but also I love mixing different textures. This denim vest just adds some extra texture to the outfit. My vintage brown leather satchel bag and leather sandals finish off my look.
