Biography

I am probably the biggest contradiction there ever was.

I obviously have the "passion for fashion" thing, but also LOVE to explore different trends with my creative side by sewing and dress making. I am a self-taught seamstress who has started a woman's vintage inspired clothing label called Jemimah. I design and sew all the clothing in all my collections. This is where I can get my creative juices flowing by exploring new fabrics, colours, textures and designs, to invent new styles or recreate existing ones.
This is my hobby.
I am actually a Civil Engineer by trade.
Why that??

No idea. Probably because I love a challenge and an engineering degree sounded like a good idea when I was 18 years old. And once I started the engineering course in Cape Town, I just loved and enjoyed Cape Town far too much to realise that I did not enjoy what I was studying. The up-beat fashion and the exciting new trends that arose from Cape Town city got me so excited, that my hobby for sewing only escalated. Which is the reason for me creating a clothing label. My clothing label has a very Capetonian style: vintage, quirky and classic, very chic and flirty. As is my daily style.

I like to think I am a "clothing engineer".

After obtaining my Engineering degree I enrolled at London College of Fashion. I am currently studying Fashion Business.

Follow my blog for a look into my daily outfits and style, my fashion finds and inspirations, my sewing experiences and creations, and my must-haves and general fashion pieces that live in my wardrobe.
