#TheMakingOf Wine Red Gown

I recently had to sew a gown for a client's Graduation Ball. It was both challenging and exciting, new techniques were used but the draping and pleating were such fun. She chose a beautiful wine red chiffon, which I draped across the bodice, gathered at the waist and then let it fall to the floor.

We took inspiration from an emerald green dress worn by Sofia Vergara.

Here are the "behind the scenes" snap shots of the construction of this dress.

The chiffon was gathered over the bust, and then twisted underneath for a more exciting and different look!

Because of all the pleats, about a million pins were used to hold the shape of the bodice while I hand-stitched each pleat to the bodice.

And finally, the dress worn by my client. How beautiful?!? And just fit like a glove!
